In a couple of days, over 600 companies and brands will gather on the show floor in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. They will be divided into four main product sectors: pro audio, recording and production, lighting as well as stage machinery, and theatre technologies. This will facilitate easy sourcing and is in line with the rapid development of the culture and tourism related aspects that the industry is facing. The variety of exhibitors and products will ensure that visitors and buyers can find anything and everything from production to performance and from software to hardware, while exploring the 45,000 sqm of exhibition space.
This year’s brand line-up is ready for opening day and definitely worth mentioning. Visitors can connect with AVID, Audiocenter, Boray, Choseal, Greatwall, Fane, Harman International, IK-Multimedia, ITC, Kling & Freitag, Laserworld, Lightlink, Midas, Mode, Plustruss, Prolyte, Omarte, Ruisheng, RME, Rupert Neve, SAE, Sennheiser, Showtex, Shure, Soundking, Superlux, Waves, Wincomm, Yamaha and many more.
IMSTA Audio Software Zone returns to PLSS
The recording and production element of the show has grown rapidly during past editions, and this year’s setup reflects that development. Hall N1 will present the latest recording products, ranging from devices to software. Building on the success of the 2018 edition, a total of 13 members will be on the show floor to provide participants with the latest audio production technology and DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) tips and tricks.
At the same time, IMSTA Audio Software will inform attendees about piracy in the audio software industry. Brands will include Antares, Celemony, FabFilter, Krotos, Magix, Modartt, Native Instruments, Nugen Audio, Reveal Sound, Sonnox, Synchro Arts, U-he and Xils-lab. Visitors can find out more about tools for audio production and processing, audio analysis, mixing/mastering and tracking, but also about hardware and software for music creation and performance, for hobbyists, amateurs and professionals.
Antares (USA) is the developer of the iconic Auto-Tune, an industry standard plug in for pitch correction and vocal effects. MAGIX (Germany) has been inspiring people for more than 20 years with powerful, user-friendly multimedia software at excellent prices for beginners and professionals. Native Instruments (Germany) is the leader in digital music creation and performance, offering hardware, software and digital services, and providing innovative, fully-integrated solutions. And that is just a fraction of what the IMSTA brands will be showcasing. In addition, about 200 brands will represent the lighting, rigging, staging, and theatre equipment and technology industries in Hall N4.
Fringe programme to compliment industry trends
Exhibitors and industry leaders are very enthusiastic about participating in the fringe programme events, by taking part in panel discussions and product demonstrations, or by joining the seminars and workshops. This year’s A3E Summit @ Prolight + Sound Shanghai is one of the many highly anticipated events. It will make its debut in China with a future-focused panel, aiming to engage the audience with audio and visual experiences for concert and festival production, FOH mixing and a whole new generation of technology for content creation.
Training has always been a key focus of PLSS. The show’s signature event, PLSS Academy, will welcome experts from Audinate Ltd, the China Illuminating Engineering Society, the China Institute of Stage Design, the China Association of Recording Engineers, the Event Safety Alliance, the German Entertainment Technology Association (VPLT) and the German Tonmeister Association (VDT). They will inspire attendees with discussions and workshops that focus on critical listening, event safety, live events, production and installation. Exciting events include: Dante Certification Training @ Shanghai, Event Safety Workshop, Yamaha X Dante Application Workshop and VPLT International Audio Training Course.
The industry is receiving significant support from the Chinese government, whose efforts will bring together the technological and cultural sectors in a way that benefits both. In line with the governmental support for the development of culture and tourism, the China Culture and Tourism Innovation Development Summit, co-organised with the China Institute of Stage Design, will share profound insights on major government acts and initiatives in this area.
The number of mega events in the industry is growing, especially regarding applications in the areas of culture and tourism. This year’s edition of PLSS will provide an overview of the best entertainment equipment and technologies available on the market today. At the Concert Sound Arena, visitors will be able to see and hear how 17 exhibitors present their line array audio systems under realistic conditions. The Sound of World will showcase overseas brands including Funktion-One, KV2, Triple Onda, Turbosound, TW AUDiO, Verity Audio and Voice Acoustic, while the Sound of China will present local renowned brands such as Admark, CPL, DMX, HZ, Magnetic, Morin, TK Sound, YME, ZMS Audio and ZSOUND.
