PLSS 2020: online conference begins on 28 October

27 Oct 2020

In place of the deferred 2020 physical trade fair, Prolight + Sound Shanghai’s five-day programme of online product demonstrations and technology forums commences on 28 October. With business and education as priorities, the virtual conference is designed to provide participants with updated market news, knowledge, and support to navigate the COVID-19 crisis and prepare for what’s next in the entertainment, event and production technology industries.

Streamed to registered participants via the official Prolight + Sound China WeChat platform, the virtual conference is split into two major sections – namely ‘online exhibits’ and ‘online education’.

More than 100 suppliers will exhibit their latest technologies online, as well as via live-streamed broadcasts across the three product categories of Professional Audio, Professional Lighting & Visual Equipment, Recording & Production and Selected Brands. Exhibitors include top players in their respective product segments, such as ACME, Audiocenter, Broad future, Budee, d&b audiotechnik, DMT, ETC, Harman International, Greatwall, Lightlink, RME, Takstar, Taiden, TOA, Winsound and Yitong.

Educational content is also set to take centre stage. Presentations in the fields of audio, conference and smart office, as well as stage and event will be live-streamed in the shape of more than 50 topical seminars, technical trainings and product demonstrations.

In support of industry developments in the film, television, sound and recording sectors, the Sound Art and Cultural Creatives Industries Development Seminar has been introduced. Held in collaboration with AES, the China Alliance of Sound Art Professionals, the Rong Family Culture Fund, the German Tonmeister’s Association (VDT) and representatives from various associations, leading industry brands, colleges and universities, the seminar gives online participants of all levels (from beginners to advanced audio system designers), access to presentations on recording, mixing, live sound, audio effects and sound art production.

Commenting on the utility of this year’s virtual conference, Ms Judy Cheung, Deputy General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, says: “Prolight + Sound Shanghai’s online programme provides a valuable platform for manufacturers to demonstrate their products and services, and share their brand stories. The platform is especially important under the current circumstances, when the need for information and education is critical to those in the industry. We are confident that the interactions made over the next five days will help professionals in the entertainment, event, and production technology industries prepare for the new year and new opportunities.”
